UCAT Results Released for 2025: Scoring Breakdown

UCAT ANZ 2025 season is officially over and results are out now. Whether you’re in Year 10, 11, or 12 and planning to sit the UCAT in 2026, now is the perfect time to start understanding how the test works, how past students performed and the best way to get ahead! Fraser’s UCAT has put together a detailed analysis for students who plan to sit in 2026 to understand how scoring works and give you insights on how you need to perform!

Statistics for the UCAT ANZ 2025 Results

From the 2025 statistics, Fraser’s students have been successful in achieving an average overall score of 2030, including those who attended our popular Strategy Weekend sessions. The public average for the UCAT 2025 was 1891 measured across 16,950 students (ANZ), compared to 15,240 students in 2024. However, this score is substantially lower than a Fraser’s student (7.35% lower to be exact).

It is also evident that students tend to struggle the most with Situational Judgement section. This can be due to the more subjective approach that students have to take to answer real-world situations. Read more on how students can succeed in this section.

The most successful sections are the Quantitative Reasoning and Decision Making sections. These sections tend to be more straight-forward with questions easier to answer.

Statistics Verbal Reasoning Decision Making Quantitative Reasoning Total Cognitive Scaled Score SJT
Fraser’s Student Mean Score 649 667 714 2030 586
1st Quartile Non-Fraser Student Scores 560 580 580 1750 541
2nd Quartile Non-Fraser Student Scores 610 650 660 1930 593
3rd Quartile Non-Fraser Student Scores 670 710 780 2130 638

In comparison to previous years, 2025 results have comparatively increased despite the removal of Abstract Reasoning from the 2025 UCAT (please don’t worry if scores look lower). This type of growth is motivating, however, students may perceive this as increased competition.

With the right amount of time management and training for the UCAT, students can be guaranteed with successful results, as Fraser’s Medical is committed to guiding students along every step. Take a look below to compare how a Fraser’s UCAT student averagely scored in each cognitive section, compared to a non-Fraser’s student.

The difference is stark, with Fraser’s students scoring 650+, whereas non-Fraser’s students score in the early 600’s. A gap like this can impact your chances for getting into your ideal Med School. Verbal Reasoning in particular is harder to score higher in, therefore, it is impressive that majority of Fraser’s Students scored 650 or above.

Analysis of the 2025 UCAT Results Against Previous Years

How has the UCAT changed?

The key change to highlight in the 2025 UCAT is the removal of the Abstract Reasoning subtest from the cognitive section. This has resulted in a new scoring system score ranges from 900-2700 compared to 1200-3600 in previous years.

Additionally, time has been updated for each section with Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning sections increasing by 1 minute each, as well as Decision Making increasing to 35 questions and 6 minutes. No notable changes have been to Situational Judgement Test.

The reason for Abstract Reasoning (AR) subtest removal can be based on the lower predictable value for a university-level performance based on AR score as the subtest is highly adaptable and teachable.

Has the UCAT Gotten Harder?

Although it cannot be confirmed whether the UCAT has gotten more difficult, we can assume based on the scores in each decile that it has been slightly more competitive in 2025. Additionally, higher scores can also be reflective of students commencing their UCAT preparation earlier or undertaking more tutoring, thereby being better equipped for the exam.

However, it is important to note that Abstract Reasoning was removed from 2025, which has impacted the overall scoring of the UCAT. Furthermore, this removal has also contributed to the exams difficulty, making it harder as Abstract Reasoning is relatively easier to understand and prepare for compared to the other sections. With a greater emphasis on the other cognitive sections and increased student numbers, some students may struggle more to score in the higher deciles.

Based on the percentile ranges of 2025, it is slightly harder to achieve a mark in the 90th percentile as the mean score was 2310 out of 2700, compared to 2024’s 3060 out of 3600. Although this means higher scores for 2025, it also means increased competition. Take a look below to see the 2025 score deciles in detail with the lowest being 1,610 and the highest being 2,310.

2025 UCAT Scores Decile/Performance

Which Section did Students Perform the Worse and Best in?

Whilst scores have been increasing every year, there are still some trends when comparing the relative scores of each section. Verbal Reasoning has remained the worst-scoring cognitive section across the years, and this trend has continued into 2025.

The best-performing section has historically been between Quantitative Reasoning or Abstract Reasoning, and Quantitive Reasoning has remained the highest scoring in 2025, with a close score of 820 out of 900 being the 90th percentile score. This is in comparison to the same percentile in Verbal Reasoning being only a 700 out of 900 - which is slightly lower than 2024’s 720.

How Students Performed Each Year in the UCAT

The bar chart above showcases the growth of UCAT scores within the past four years (2022 to 2025).

An increase in each decile has led to a top overall score of 3060 in the 9th decile for 2024, compared to 2022 where students scored below 3000. This steady increase in scores is promising for students sitting the UCAT ANZ in 2026. Although the scores may seem lower for 2025, worry not, this is due to the scoring changes resulting in less points that students can earn following the removal of Abstract Reasoning.

However, it is important for students to stay on top of their UCAT prep and ensure they are on the right track to success. Fraser’s is equipped with helping push student scores over the 9th decile, with majority of our UCAT students landing a medical interview after completing a UCAT program.

What is Considered a Good UCAT Score?

There are many factors that contribute to a ‘good’ UCAT score, including the specific university, location and bonuses. Generally speaking, a score in the 90th percentile is considered to be ‘good’ for most universities, while a score in the 95th percentile is considered to be ‘very competitive’ for most universities (based on Australian standards).

In 2025, these scores would equate to 2310+. It is also important to note that the UCAT score needs to be coupled with an equally competitive ATAR and interview performance for medical school admission.
