In the 2025 GEMSAS Guide, Deakin University has announced intentions to allocate 50% of its incoming MD students from rural backgrounds, underscoring the importance of rurality in Deakin's admission process.

One key thing to keep in mind when prepping for the Deakin Med Interview is that demonstrating a strong commitment to Indigenous and rural healthcare, exceptional patient-centred communication skills, and a desire to serve marginalized communities are essential.

The interview process at Deakin University is conducted online through Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) via Zoom. This process includes:

• Six 5-minute stations, with a 1-minute reading time before each station.
• A main question followed by 2-3 follow-up questions at each station.

Deakin University's program accepts approximately 136 students, with dedicated places for the Rural Training Entry System and Indigenous Entry System, ensuring a diverse and inclusive student body.
