If you're an international student with a bachelor's degree already in hand, graduate-entry medicine is usually your most realistic way into an Australian MD. The catch is that every university runs its own process, with its own test rules, GPA thresholds, and quotas, and there's no single portal that lays them all out side by side.

We've done that comparison for you.

Every university plays by slightly different rules

Some schools, like UWA, Queensland, Flinders, Griffith, and Deakin, only accept GAMSAT from international applicants. Others, including Wollongong, Notre Dame, Macquarie, Melbourne, and ANU, will also take an MCAT score. Monash's graduate-entry route exists but is largely restricted to students who completed a specific Monash degree first.

Get this wrong and you could spend months preparing for the wrong test, or overlook a university that would have accepted your MCAT score.

Quotas and GPA thresholds vary just as much

International places range from as few as 15 a year at Wollongong to around 190 at Queensland. Minimum GPA requirements shift between roughly 5.0 and 5.5 depending on the school. A handful of universities, like Macquarie, don't offer Commonwealth Supported Places at all, meaning every place, domestic or international, is full fee.

What's inside the guide

We've built a university-by-university breakdown covering all 11 Australian medical schools with a genuine international graduate-entry pathway:

  • Admissions tests accepted (GAMSAT, MCAT, or both)
  • Academic and GPA requirements
  • English language thresholds
  • Application channels and interview format
  • Visa requirements
  • Quotas and competitiveness
  • What happens after you graduate
